Determine Your Core Values
Just a disclaimer before I prolong: your true potential might be the opposite of mine, the main purpose of this post is to help you realise your true potential if that’s something you are struggling with. This is just how I realised what my true potential is.
Also this is not as easy as ABC, it took my years of research, try and error to be at my realisation.
Are you tired of working at a job you don’t like but you are only there for the money?
Do you find yourself being broke in the middle of every month no matter how much of a hard worker you are?
Do you find yourself living from pay check to pay check, tired and broke at all times?
If you’ve answered yes to some of the above questions, then it’s time to find out what your true potential in life is to be able to live an abundance and happy life.
I’m going to tell you a short story of how I found my true potential in life. Seat back, relax, grab a pack of plantain chips and ginger beer (oh yes, they have been my absolute favourite recently).
Before I realised what my true potential was, I have had several jobs that I didn’t feel fulfilled or joyful in doing.
Even though I was a hard and cooperative worker, for example, I always met my sales target, got to work on time etc, I didn’t get any personal joy from working at does jobs in general.
The only thing I enjoyed about working was doing sales and serving customers, I wasn’t feeling the rest like being around workmates that are constantly gossiping about someone or something that I was never interested in.
Personally I’m not a gossiper, gossips don’t interest me, I find them boring and makes me feel like a weak individual.
However, for you to be at a work place and get along with everyone, you have to do a lot of pretending and back biting. I hate pretending not to talk about back biting, I am the say it in your face kind of person.
I find myself changing jobs mainly because of the above reasons, even thou I have always had in my mind that I want to own my own business one day, I didn’t think it was going to be this soon to be self employed and being my own boss, most importantly, choosing the environment in which I work in.
One day, I was just tired of everything that happens in the work place and I began questioning myself if being employed is really for me?
On realising my true potential, I came to a conclusion that I am destined to do something else as all of these don’t match my core values in life and I don’t get much joy from doing it.
How I realised my true potential?
- Find Out What Your Core Values are: it is very important to know what Your Core Values are and are living according to them. So I made a list of my core values to help me in realising my true potential, I would suggest you make a list too to help you with your journey. Studies suggest that you will find your life more meaningful and fulfilling if you live in life with what’s most important to you.
- Work On Your Values: once you realise what your Values are, start working on them. For example, one of my Core Values in life is to see people happy, so I started doing more things that would make people smile like staying a blog where I’m able to advice people and give back to my community.
- Identify The Areas That You Are Not Consistent In With Your Values: for example, you are so used to being told what to do and part of your Core Values is to be your own boss, to be able to do things on your own, so being independent is something you will want to work on.
- Be Easy On Yourself: it’s not going to happen in one day, so do it gradually and celebrate your journey.
